James began sculpting in 2010, learning as a blacksmith's appreciate in St Austell, Cornwall. The foundation of his recognisable style is his chosen medium of scrap metal.
Over the last 12 years he has built up an international portfolio of work spanning both public and private spaces and at scales ranging from table top to monumental.
James' bronze work is sculpted from reclaimed metal and cast in bronze, using the aincent lost wax method. His sculpture bears the scars from the brutality of his process, which is where a rich texture is created.
James works to create moments of reconnection, to his deep source of inspiration - the wild.
